Rotorua Luge

New Tracks Now Open!

7.3km of Gravity Fuelled Fun šŸ

With over 14 months of construction, we are proud to present the latest Luge track additions to Skyline Rotorua, Ultra, Twister and the Legend!Ā 4 brand new corkscrews, over 12,000 native trees planted, 4 tunnels lit up with 430m of LED strip lighting, and so many more twists and turns.

The Night Luge has also been transformed with 170 coloured LED lights and with the addition of these new tracks our Luge now boasts a total track length of 7.3 kilometres - the longest in the world! Click here for more detailed Luge track information.

Nestle into a Luge cart and zip off with friends or family to discover who has the skills to master the Luge.

The part go-cart, part toboggan is gravity-fueled with full rider control over speed and direction using a unique braking and steering system. Pull back on the handlebars to slow down or stop, release slightly to accelerateĀ and enjoy the ride. The Luge is great for any age (our oldest rider is 101) and small children (provided they are 85cm high and over 2 years of age or more) can ride with adults.

The world-famous Luge opened in 1986 and Skyline Rotorua continues to lead the way with Luge technology - all components are designed and manufactured in Rotorua and then shipped around the world to our other Luge locations.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Can a single Luge ticket be split over different days?

Luge rides on a single ticket cannot be split over different days.

  • Can I buy extra Luge rides onsite?

Yes, you can purchase extra Luge rides from the top of the Gondola.

  • Are there any height or age restrictions?

Riders who are between 85cm - 109cm and over 2 years of age will need to ride in tandem with an adult. It is the responsibility of the 'responsible person' to ride in a slow and safe manner, avoiding sharp braking to minimise the risk of injury to the tandem rider.
Riders who are over 110cm and 6+ years old can ride the Luge tracks unaccompanied but will need to ride the chairlift with a responsible person over 150cm tall and 15 years old.
Riders 120cm tall and 7+ years old can Luge and ride the chairlift alone.

  • Can I purchase a Gondola or Luge photo after my visit to Skyline?

Due to the number of photos taken daily, we are unable to recover photos once you leave the complex. Photos must be purchased at the Luge or the base of the Gondola on the day.

  • I have purchased a Luge photo. How do I get an electronic copy of this?

If you have purchased a Luge photo, you should also receive an electronic copy of this which will be sent to the email address you provided at the time of purchase.
