Bike models for hire

Mountain Bike Rotorua offers five types of rentals so you can find the right fit. Flat pedals are included with every bike, but you’re also welcome to bring your own or hire SPD pedals for a small extra cost.

  • Hardtail mountain bikes: A versatile rental option popular with both intermediate-level and experienced cyclists.
  • Full suspension mountain bikes: Built for rougher tracks, perfect for tackling the challenges of Skyline Rotorua Mountain Bike Park.

  • Kids’ mountain bikes: Trace Junior bikes are a great option for younger riders between 145 and 165 cm.

Rotorua bike hire FAQs

How long can I hire a bike for?

Mountain Bike Rotorua offers bike hire for two hours to seven days. If you’re hiring a bike overnight, make sure you can safely store it at your accommodation.

Can I have my bike delivered to a specific location?

The Mountain Bike Rotorua crew offers pickup at four locations: the Waipa MTB car park, Putake o Tawa car park, Skyline MTB Park, and Wheelhouse Coffee.

Please note that mountain bike pickup at Skyline is only available at the Bottom Terminal. To access the trails, you’ll need to purchase Gondola Uplift Passes for the uphill ride. We offer a range of bundled passes that can be used anytime within a one-year period, giving you the flexibility to enjoy the trails at your own pace.

Due to the terrain, only full-suspension mountain bikes are available to hire for use at Skyline Mountain Bike Park.

Are there bike hire options available for children?

Mountain Bike Rotorua provides small, medium, large, and extra-large bike hire options. The smallest option is best for riders 163-172 cm tall.

All Skyline MTB Park trails have a minimum grade of 4, making them suitable only for intermediate to advanced riders. For safety, all riders must use their own bike.
