Gondola Annual Pass FAQs

  • Can I give my Gondola Annual Pass to a family member or friend to use for the day?

    Our Gondola Annual Passes are strictly non-transferable and for your use only.

    You will be supplied with a physical card that has your photo on it so we can identify it is your card.

  • How long is my Gondola Annual Pass valid for?

    Your Gondola Annual Pass (GAP) card is valid for 12 months from the day we issue your physical card.

    If you have bought or renewed your GAP card online, you will have six months to pick up your card from the day of purchase.

  • I live outside Otago/ Southland, can I get a Gondola Annual Pass?

    From 1 November 2019, the Gondola Annual Pass (GAP) will be exclusive to Otago/ Southland residents.

    Proof of address will be required when you pick up your GAP card at either Skyline Direct or at our base terminal.

  • I bought a Gondola Annual Pass online and didn't know it was for Otago/ Southland locals only. What do I do now?

    From November 2019, our Gondola Annual Passes (GAPs) are available for Otago & Southland residents only. It states in our Terms & Conditions that GAPs are non-refundable. However, due to the recent change of the residency requirement, you will be able to request a refund by contacting us at reservations@skyline.co.nz

  • I have a current Gondola Annual Pass, but I am not an Otago/ Southland local. Can I renew it?

    Your current Gondola Annual Pass (GAP) will remain valid until its expiry date, but from 1 November 2019, the GAP will only be available to purchase for Otago/ Southland residents who can provide a proof of address.

  • Can I buy a Gondola Annual Pass as a Gift Voucher and give it to a non-local?

    From 1 November 2019, proof of address will be required to redeem the Gondola Annual Pass even if you received this as a gift voucher. 

  • I am not an Otago/ Southland local and I received a Gondola Annual Pass as a gift voucher, what do I do?

    Gift vouchers are non-refundable, so you could use it towards payment or partial payment of other Skyline products, given your purchase is of the same or of greater value than the value of your gift voucher. 

  • I received a Gondola Annual Pass voucher from my volunteer work, but I am not an Otago/ Southland local. Can I still redeem my Gondola Annual Pass?

    Yes, if you received a Gondola Annual Pass (GAP) as part of your volunteer work for an event sponsored by Skyline Queenstown, you can redeem your pass at Skyline Direct or our base terminal.

    Please ensure you bring the personalised GAP voucher, distributed by the event organiser when you redeem your GAP.

  • Are there any exceptions for non-locals to have a Gondola Annual Pass?

    Yes, there are 2 exceptions:
    1. If you received your Gondola Annual Pass (GAP) by volunteering in an event sponsored by Skyline Queenstown, you will still be able to redeem your GAP.
    2. If you own a holiday house in the Otago/Southland region and can bring proof of address, you will still be able to redeem your GAP.

  • I have a Gondola Annual Pass from Skyline Rotorua. Will my benefits change?

    Skyline Rotorua Gondola Annual Pass holders will continue to receive free, unlimited Gondola rides at Skyline Queenstown, for the cardholder only.

  • I have a MTB Season Pass but I am not an Otago/ Southland local. Will my benefits remain the same?

    Yes, you will still receive the same benefits from your MTB Season Pass, which you can check here.

  • Does my child come under my annual pass?

    Each child will need their own Gondola Annual Pass (GAP).

    We offer a complimentary Child GAP with every Adult or Senior GAP.

    Extra child passes can be purchased for $59 for one year. 

  • Do I need to buy my complimentary child Gondola Annual Pass online?

    You do not need to purchase your complimentary child Gondola Annual Pass online.

    Simply ask for your complimentary child pass when you redeem your adult or senior pass on-site.

  • Do I need to make a booking?

    Bookings are not required for the Gondola, Luge or activities but are recommended for Stratosfare Restaurant and Stargazing at Skyline Queenstown.
