Crankworx Rotorua 2016 – Day Three and Four

Posted on Sunday, 13 March 2016

A behind-the-scenes look at Crankworx Rotorua Day Three and Four.

The atmosphere was buzzing on Friday night’s an epic Rotorua Pump Track Challenge presented by RockShox.

After many near wins, Tomas Lemoine finally has his first Crankworx gold medal, and five-time pump track queen Jill Kintner, took out first place in the ladies event.

Rotorua local, Conor Mahuika had the crowd going crazy as he fought right through until the quarter finals – finishing up with an impressive fourth place – not bad for the 16 year olds first Pump Track event.

Crankworx Rotorua Slopestyle

The competition opened with all 18 riders, friends and kids who looked up to Slopestyle's gentle giant, McGarry, executing a train in his honour, riding back-to-back down the course that will be his legacy. McGarry was both the designer and builder of the Rotorua Slopestyle course, with Elevate business partner Tom Hey, and his passing in early-February, was the only cloud on a stunningly perfect afternoon at Skyline Gravity Park—the weather itself a tribute to the rider known for his golden locks and sunny disposition.

Following the Slopestyle event was entertainment at the Red Bull Stage featuring DJ Nero and PDiggs. After that was the Deep Summer Rotorua Photo Challenge – assembling teams out of some of the industry’s best photographers and riders, to build the most creative photography slideshow possible.

For those of you who can’t make the event, Crankworx is broadcast live from Crankworx.com and Pinkbike.com
