The ground breaking ceremony for the next Skyline Luge development took place in the City of Tongyeong, South Korea yesterday.

Over 600 officials, guests and citizens were treated to entertainment, speeches and a spectacular fireworks finale.

Mayor Kim-Dong Jin welcomed Skyline's significant investment in Tongyeong City.  New Zealand Ambassador Clare Fearnley congratulated the City and Skyline on this important Korean and New Zealand Partnership.

Skyline Enterprises Chairman Mark Quickfall acknowledged the support received from the City and Geong-Nam province and in particular the support of Tongyeong Mayor Kim-Dong Jin.

Skyline has been operating the luge for over 30 years in New Zealand.

With sites operating in New Zealand, Canada and Singapore the Skyline Luge Tongyeong will be Skyline's 6th site and a significant investment in excess of $20 million dollars.

The site sits directly below the Hallyeosudo Landscape Cable Car which takes visitors to Mt Mireuksan.  Construction of the luge is scheduled to be completed within the next 12 months and with over 1 million visitors riding on the cable car per annum Skyline expects to attract a good percentage of these visitors.  With tourism predominately domestic in origin International visitation is increasing to the area, particularly from China.  Skyline Luge is already a proven attraction with many Korean visitors riding at Skyline Luge Sentosa in Singapore.
