Tourist attraction featuring Singapore’s unique gravity ride commemorates milestone with ten-day carnival and launch of innovative Science educational programme
Singapore, 26 August 2015 - Skyline Luge Sentosa marked its tenth anniversary today at the 10tastic! carnival by announcing a record of 1.5 million rides for the last financial year and unveiling of a new Skyline Luge Education Programme, in the presence of Mark Quickfall, Chairman of Skyline Enterprises.
Established in 2005, the Skyline Luge Sentosa has grown its annual ridership by more than 120% since 2006 and achieved an average revenue growth of about 20% per complete financial year. With 70% of visitors being tourists and with more than 40% of their domestic visitors being repeat riders, the attraction has achieved a strong sustainable business model.
Skyline Luge Sentosa also announced the inception of the Skyline Luge Education Programme, designed to enable students to better grasp science concepts such as vectors, force and velocity, through the gravity-inspired Luge ride. Aimed at reinforcing the school curriculum with practical and fun out-of-classroom learning, the programme features a course for upper primary and lower secondary school students and another for lower secondary, International Baccalaureate (IB) and junior college (JC) students.
At the event, Skyline Luge Sentosa introduced its newly-appointed General Manager, Ryan Williams, who took over the reins from Danny Luke on 3 August 2015. Prior to his current position, Mr. Williams has headed the engineering team at Skyline Luge Sentosa as Chief Engineer since April 2007.
“As one of the top tourist attractions in Singapore, Skyline Luge Sentosa has been privileged to enjoy tremendous growth over the past ten years and will strive towards creating an even greater experience for our riders. As Luge itself is an innovation based on the law of gravity, we are launching the new education programme to inspire the younger generation to take a greater interest in Science and harness it to create wonderful inventions in the future,” said Mr Williams.
“As Singapore becomes an increasingly fast-paced society, we want to offer a truly unique, outdoor experience with just the right level of thrill and fun for Singaporeans to relax and bond with their families and friends,” added Mr. Williams.
