Step into the Void

Imagine floating in mid-air high above Queenstown, with nothing but wide open space between you, Lake Wakatipu and the towering Remarkables mountains.
Sound like a dream? Soon, that heart-stopping experience will be reality for visitors to Skyline Queenstown!
To help our guests experience the iconic view from Bob's Peak like never before, we're building the country’s first suspended glass viewing cube.
The 1 metre-wide, 1m-deep and 2m-tall ‘cube’ will be part of our already-world-famous viewing deck. Designed in conjunction with well-known engineer Derek Chinn, of Bartlett Consulting, the project will be a significant engineering feat.
The design was inspired by the ‘Step into the Void’ installation at the Aiguille du Midi in Mont Blanc, and we believe it to be the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
The resource consent application has been lodged with Queenstown Lakes District Council. All going to plan, construction is expected to be complete by the end of 2015!
