The Winner's Tale
Posted on Thursday, 25 September 2014
The winner of our first-ever MTB photo competition skipped a day on the ski slopes to shred the Skyline Rotorua mountain bike trails, and he's so glad he did!
Winner of Best Photo, and recipient of a Six-Month Mountain Bike Pass valued at $629, is Rafael Bagatini.
We loved this shot for its fresh perspective on the MTB Gravity Park and the fact that it shows off one of our favourite features, the Surgeon's Table. Here's the story behind the snap, in Rafael's words:
"...this photo was taken on the second day me and my brother went to ride at Skyline. We first went on Saturday and we loved it!!! So we decided to cancel the snow trip on Sunday and go ride one more day and take some photos, as it was my brother's last day here in New Zealand.
"This photo was taken on the last run of the day, with the ride patrol asking us to move along as the park was closing. The rider in the photo is Michael Gartrell, a friend that we made that day in the gondola, on the way up the mountain.
"Can't wait to ride again now! Thanks to the Skyline team and everyone involved in the MTB Gravity Park. Great work guys!!!!!"
Two photo entries received the most fan votes - Regan McCorquindale, with the photo "Can't beat it!!!":
And Luke Parry, with the photo "View from the top of Skyline":
Both Regan and Luke have been awarded a Skyline Day Adventure Pass, including luge rides, Skyswing, Zoom Zipline and gondola, valued at $125
Thanks to everyone who entered, shared and voted. Watch for more competitions in the future, and see you again soon at the Skyline Rotorua MTB Gravity Park! #RideMoreNZ
