See the lunar eclipse at Skyline!
Posted on Monday, 22 September 2014
Join Skyline Stargazing on 8th October for an incredible celestial extravaganza!
The lunar eclipse occurs on October 8, 2014, and Skyline Queenstown will be offering a special stargazing show for our guests to witness its magical beauty.
This special sky tour will begin at 10:15pm. We'll be watching (in awe!) as the moon enters the shadow of Earth and becomes fully eclipsed.
To celebrate this stellar show, Skyline Queenstown will provide each guest with our famous hot chocolate or a delicious mulled wine.
In a lunar eclipse, the moon is hidden as it passes through Earth's shadow. Two shadows will cross the moon during the event - the large penumbra, which dims the moon, and the umbra, a smaller opaque shadow caused by Earth blocking out the light from the sun to the moon.
The very best vantage point around is through the biggest telescopes in Queenstown, at our location 800m up Bob’s Peak away from the city's light pollution.
Bookings for this special evening are essential, so contact our customer service team on +64 3 441 0101 or check out our website.
